A persistent global health challenge.

HIV remains a major global public-health issue. Despite major advances in antiretroviral therapy, transmission continues worldwide and there is still no cure. UDD is actively applying its fast, scalable and innovative computational discovery capabilities to identify and evaluate new molecular solutions for HIV.

Where the burden is concentrated

WHO reports 26.3 million people living with HIV in the African Region in 2025 — about 64% of the global total. The map highlights that WHO region rather than assigning unsupported country-level values.

Annual new infections and HIV-related deaths have fallen substantially since 2010, while millions remain affected.

Current challenge

In 2025, 1.2 million people acquired HIV and 570,000 died from HIV-related causes. WHO reports 32.1 million people receiving HIV treatment, representing 78% of people living with HIV. Treatment has transformed outcomes, but lifelong therapy, continued transmission and the absence of a cure leave substantial room for therapeutic innovation.

UDD is actively working on HIV

Our program uses rapid, scalable computational discovery and molecular evaluation to accelerate the search for promising candidates. The objective is to move efficiently from very large chemical space toward scientifically prioritized molecules for further validation—without exposing proprietary discovery workflows.
